Consistency, Watson: that is what runs the world. People who trudge along the singular path until they reach the end of the path: those are the people who accomplish things.

Some people might say they’re going to be consistent—about, say, delivering an advice column every week—but then you see them out sticking their fingers into pies and waltzing Matilda, and where is the advice column? Nowhere, is where! Woe to the unwashed masses, who have been writing in asking how to use this weird shower. Their queries? Unanswered! Their pit-stains? Ferocious! The world is descending into chaos and stench, and all because one person made promises she couldn’t keep. One person is horrid. One person is me.

I’m through making promises. But I will say, eight month out from finishing my book, I finally feel like I can and want to return to my role at the head of the universe this advice column. Will you take me back? Well, you don’t have any choice, so deal with it, because here I am! Bigger, badder, advicier: You’re Doing Great 2.1.
