To the submitter: she likes you (inhibitions down when inebriated with imbibed liquids), and the less-than-enthusiastic or vulnerable response--though polite--was unsatisfactory to her. She was embarrassed and is a) not waiting for miracles to happen and taking steps for herself to establish a new boundary and b) probably still likes you and cannot really abide just being friends. And Sofia is right: no one knows for sure, so: a gentle message respecting the boundary and offering gentleness. Don't fake that you "love her" because you miss her friendship. You've done it again :) I always say this, but, seriously, you are quite brilliant at this whole advice thing. I like your insights on being human, and I wish you'd been around much earlier, although I appreciate this was beyond your control to a large extent :) Best wishes.
